Clinical Testing of Devils Claw

Devil’s Claw has been clinically tested particularly in Germany, where the plant has achieved particular fame.

Prof. Dr.B.Zorn, for instance, writing in the "Zeitschrift fur Rheumaforschung", stated that Devil's Claw had a prolonged beneficial influence on tissue swelling and inflammations, leading to a return to normal conditions, without the impediment of movement and pain caused by the condition.

Dr.P.C. Seeger MD observed that... "After treatment had ended there was no interruption of the healing process and any relapse or inflammation; the healing process continued."

Dr.S.Schmidt states in an article appearing in "Zeitschrift fur Naturheilkunde"... "A renaissance of the remedial plants! Harpagophytum root provides us with an addition to our drug armoury against the poisoning of modern time. Wonderfully, it stimulates the detoxicating and protecting mechanisms of the body. It is remarkable that after treatment has been discontinued, the healing process does not stop, nor is there any reactivation of the inflammatory process, but the healing which has already begun continues. I have been prescribing Harpagophytum root for the past year for my rheumatic patients. It has provided valuable support for the usual rheumatic treatment in more than a hundred patients, and I have even been able to dispense with drugs. I now always prescribe Harpagophytum tea in all diseases, since its detoxifying effect and its stimulation of protective mechanisms provide valuable support for standard treatment".

Improved Wellbeing

Dr. von Korvin Krasinski writes... "Quite apart from these wholly beneficial effects upon the organs, there is a general feeling of improved wellbeing that compares with a good early morning feeling after a brief but deep sleep, and a noticeable relief that climbing the stairs is no longer an effort."

Arthritis

Professor Zorn of the Physiological and Chemical Institute of the University of Jena carried out trials on the effects of Harpagophytum on arthritis. He found that after 5 weeks treatment the swelling went down and the joints became freely moveable. After the treatment ended there was no interruption of the healing process. In England, there are many reports of arthritic cases effecting remarkable improvement in both humans and animals (particularly the larger breeds of dogs), and horses.
